Makawao is an old historic cowboy town located in upcountry Maui close to the Banyan Bed and Breakfast.  Just ten minutes down the hill from our quiet, out of town Plantation Home is the delightful town of Paia, which is the heart of Maui's famous north shore.  These two towns are excellent fun to explore with a great variety of shops and restaurants.

Makawao is traditionally a quiet, out of the way, cowboy town and has slowly evolved into today's usually quiet, and slightly less out of the way, center for upcountry artists and is a popular local hangout. 

 

 

 

From local food to full-on 5 star dinning, upcountry Maui is sure to have something for everyone.  As well as a handful of restaurants and food stores Makawao is home to "Casanova's" a popular Italian restaurant with music into the evenings.

The Banyan Bed and Breakfast

has 7 individual cottages and suites. Under the Historic Plantation House roof is one of the cottages (Plumeria) and all 3 of the suites; it can be rented as a 2, 3 or 4 bedroom house.  Each cottage and suite has it's own entrance, private bathroom and kitchenette.  Each kitchenette includes a small refrigerator, microwave oven, toaster and coffee maker with fresh ground coffee, teas, hot cocoa etc. Breakfast is served every morning to guests of the suites and cottages, but is not included with plantation house or entire property rental.

Banyan Bed & Breakfast Inn

is just outside of Makawao town, less than 10 minutes from Paia and the North shore beaches.
Haleakala Park is about an hour up the mountain.  Haiku, Pukalani, Kula and HaliiMaile are all close by in Maui's upcountry area.   An ideal central location for touring Maui.
